Strange Neighbors Review
After reading several terrible books that I choose not to review this was a welcome relief. After Merry's mother died in child birth and certain events happened to her real dad that I won't spoil the book by revealing here she was adopted and raise by a loving family to become a nurse. Now moved out of the house and on her own for the first time she finds love at first sight with the sexy Jason Falcon pitcher at Boston's Fenway Park's baseball team. (the writer choose to make up a baseball team rather than use the name Red Sox.) Its funny whenever Merry's brother around since he appears to be Jason's biggest fan. Jason has a secret and its not just the vampire living in the basement, the ghost who chase tendants from his apartment or his were wolf friend. As if the phone sex operators in the apartment above her isn't enough for Merry to deal with as she begins a whirl wind romance of sweetness and supernatural action.

Jack of all trades, master of none - Born to Read - Eastern USA
I am sure this book will get appeal to lots of people, as does reality TV, but "quintessential" and "delightful" are not words I would use to describe it. The author included just about every popular theme from books, television and movies. So if you like reality TV, follow celebrity news, are entertained by Yaz commercials, and want to read something light and superficial with weak paranormal overtones and yes, a couple of steamy sex scenes, you may like this.
Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan meet Alex Rodriguez and star in a bad CW TV about supernatural creatures with HBO-type sex. That sums it up.
Thank goodness, a shipment of books from authors I like arrived---Secondhand Spirits: A Witchcraft Mystery A Cast-Off Coven: A Witchcraft Mystery, and any Victoria Laurie's Psychic Eye series, just to name a few.
I can stop reading this book and move along. Life is too short to read mediocre books. I salute this author for getting published and I am sure she will garner an audience, but it's not for me.
Much better than I thought - Furuba girl - Duluth, GA, United States
Ok, so I bought this book because I needed another one to get the 4 for 3 deal, but it was a really good pick. This book was an emotional rollercoaster. Merry is like how so many of us were when we took that big step and started our lives in the real world. And Jason... at first I thought he was a player, but I was happily mistaken. Aunt Dottie you can have. I cringed everytime her name was mentioned. Ughh she was soooo agrivating. Very good read and I recommend to those looking for a break from the predicable paranormal romance novel. I can't wait until Ms. Chase's next book.
3.5 stars - New neighbors some 'strange', some annoying - melindeeloo - sb,ca
Asserting her independence after helping her father to raise her younger brother, Merry's finally moving into her own apartment. Merry's 'new start' in the big city seems to be starting out pretty darn good since Merry has caught the eye of her hunky neighbor/landlord baseball star Jason Falco. But everything is not going to be that easy for Merry, a close call in a mugging, dealing with Jason's fangirls and stalker paparazzis, and an overprotective father who wants her to come 'home', Merry is going to have to work for her happily ever after.
Light, humorous and with a whole lot of steamy stuff, I liked a lot of what author Chase had to offer in Strange Neighbors. Both the leads are flawed but still likeable - Jason's pretty non-confrontational for a jock and Merry has some growing up to do if she wants to be involved with a hot celebrity. Less fun are Jason's nosey Aunt who manages the building and a hippyish ghost, and unfortunately, these two get a good deal of screen time. Despite the fact that the pair's contribution to the story lets us get to know the other neighbors better, I found them irritating and not funny and they dropped my enjoyment of the story by half a star. But what will likely have me coming back for more is the 'strange neighbors' themselves, there's an interesting mix of paranormals inhabiting Merry's building: Witches who run both a psychic hotline and a phone sex business out of their apartment, a vampire living on the sly in the basement, a mortitian with a secret. This supporting cast has a great deal of potential, so I'll probably take a peek when series continues with The Werewolf Upstairs.
