Light of Eidon (Legends of the Guardian-King, Book 1) Review
As a fan of fantasy books, which this is, I was happy to find that I not only found the book engaging but a place I couldn't wait to visit again when I was done. The main character of Abramm was so well written that you start out questioning how in any world this character could carry a book much less a series but by the end you are loyal to him and want him to triumph.
I could see the scenery and knew the charcters. I great read about a young man struggling to come to grips with no only his reality changing but the whole worlds. Worth every penny! I would even have paid for this one.

Light of Eidon (Legends of the Guardian-King, Book 1) Overview
Soul-Stirring Fantasy From the Author of the Acclaimed Arena
Abramm has dedicated the last eight years of his life to becoming worthy to touch and tend the Sacred Flames of Eidon, and he expects to be blessed for his devotion and sacrifice. But on the eve of taking the vows that will irrevocably separate him from the life he was born to—as Abramm Kalladorne, fifth son of the king of Kiriath, he is betrayed by his spiritual mentor and sold into slavery by his own family.
Swept along by the winds of a new destiny, Abramm is forced to compete as a gladiator. When the oppressed masses rally around his success, he discovers his suffering has molded him into something greater than he ever thought possible—to serve a purpose he never imagined.

Customer Reviews
almost... but just misses - Brian Chrisman - Reno, NV
- liked the world development (G.R.R. Martin-esque)
- liked the characters
- allegory of christianity was full, vibrant, consistent, deep and fair
caveats:
- smoked all the story/plot ammunition at once.
- where will sequels go now that main character converted?
- strength of Christian allegory necessarily high due to... well.. could it be otherwise?
recommendations:
- like the movie 'Fireproof'? you'll like this.
- movie 'Fireproof' to be 'too preachy'? you may still like this.
- interested in what christianity is about? this is a good introductory allegory.
- don't like books centered on protestant thought? possibly wont like this.
** spoiler **
I know the author had a purpose behind the death of the love interest, but it really took too much out of the book for me. I liked the main character.. I wanted him to have both his conversion *and* a life together with the love interest. Both can be done. The lesson can be pushed through other characters. What if she was pregnant with his child? Why couldn't the have the joy of being formally married?
I don't have a problem with the point (ie, He works in mysterious ways, and those of the faith live on in heaven after death), but I think making the point in this way (which was really at the author's discretion) really distracted me.
Gripping - Brenty -
I read all the instalments of this series in one week. I was gripped throughout by a thrilling plot, sympathetic well-drawn characters and the magic. Most enjoyable!
Good job - Worth the read - StudentTeacher -
Once you get used to the characters, the story moves well. Not too graphic, well written. Download the free ebook. I think I'll check out her books for purchase.
